Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor stands accused of carrying out assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
