Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Additional Developments
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
