LA Explodes in Celebration as Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels witnessed citywide celebrations after the Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-game World Series championship. Supporters worldwide joined local residents in jubilation, marking the first time in 25 years that a franchise has secured consecutive championships.
Celebration Parade Draws Enormous Crowds
Los Angeles area events included a procession through the city center on the morning of the parade, a ticketed rally at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings across the city.
Social media videos depict thousands of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many carrying homemade signs and team flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a open-top bus through the masses, raising the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the next championship we’re going to do this,” the star player stated through an interpreter.
The procession path concluded at the stadium, where the players walked out to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard spinning music and the artist cruising a light blue vintage Cadillac around the field.
Pre-Parade Festivities and Athlete Responses
Festivities started prior to the parade, with Dodgers fans lighting flares in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, awarded the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke directly about the win.
“We refuse to lose,” he said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Varied Responses and Community Spirit
However, Mark Walter received a cooler welcome at the celebration. Recordings from the event seem to depict him walking onstage to a mix of applause and boos, with jeers punctuating his address.
The World Series served as a bright spot in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to team member one athlete, fans this year demonstrated equal or greater enthusiasm.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” he remarked. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
